The last 8 miles into Ft. Wayne were on this sheltered, shaded path. Only one problem: the mile markers were placed 4 to a mile so they measured quarter miles. We thought we were riding in slow motion as we counted down: 6.50 miles, 6.25 miles, etc. I will admit that even on a short easy day, the last 5 miles seem longer than the first 5, which just click by.
Ft. Wayne has an impressive courthouse in the city center. I've started taking pictures while riding. I hope I don't drop the phone!
Last night we decided to forget using the ACA route across Indiana because there are no hotels on their route. I appreciate the low traffic idea but the reason there is no traffic is that there is nothing, no towns, no comfort stops, no restaurants and no hotels on the route. That doesn't work for us. So we have decided to bushwhack our way from Hilton to Holiday Inn. We will be heading up to Chicago, Milwaukee and Madison, and will miss out on Deedsville, Fletcher, and Muscatine.
